The late Mitzi Vardill was an accomplished artist whose work practice covered drawing, watercolour, mixed media, acrylics, print media, sculpture and ceramics. She had many years of experience in teaching art, conducting classes and workshops for adults in various art schools and from her own studio. She also provided private tuition to senior high school students. Mitzi was a regular participant in group shows as well as individual exhibitions.
She was born in Lyttleton in the South Island of New Zealand and moved to Australia in 1970. She then called Australia home but can still felt her roots in the Shaky Isle. The creative urge was always strong and she had a solo show at Gallery 79, Balmain in 1981.
In 2004 she gained a Masters Degree in Contemporary Arts for Educators at the Sydney College of Arts at Sydney University. Her Masters specialised in teaching art to adult students. She also had a Diploma in Fine Arts and Advanced Standing in Printmaking and Certificate IV in Assessment & Training.
After a battle with cancer, the colourful, creative and very much loved Mitzi passed away in 2018.
